Two Poems by Yevtushenko Pt. 1 "my own poems... they endowed me with wealth. No one told me how to spend it"
Oh you in years my equal,
my true friend!
My fate's
contained in yours.
Then let us be extremely frank,
and speak the truth about ourselves.
Let us share our anxieties together,
discuss between us, tell others too,
what sort of men we can't be any longer,
what sort of men we now desire to be.
Fallen out of love with self-conceit,
we shall not regret the loss.
Character
begins to form
at the first pinch of anxiety about ourselves.
